Marsha Perelman has worked in the energy industry for over 30 years with companies including Buckeye Pipe Line, Clearfield Energy, O’Brien Philadelphia Cogen and Sempra Energy.

She is a director of Penn Virginia Corporation (NYSE: PVA) and served as a director of PVR Partners, L.P. (NYSE:PVR) prior to its acquisition. 

She is chair emerita of the Franklin Institute, having served as chair from 2005 through 2013, and is a director of Visit Philadelphia and the Bryn Mawr Film Institute. She also chairs the Philadelphia Community Advisory Committee of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

She is recognized nationally for her work on behalf of animal welfare, and serves as a director of the Humane Society of the United States and a member of the Pennsylvania Dog Law Advisory Board. She was formerly chair of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and vice chair, president, and CEO of the Philadelphia Zoo. She graduated from Northwestern University with a BA and from the University of Pennsylvania with a master’s degree in city planning. She and her husband, Jeffrey, live in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.
